Ask Chef Jimmy what inspired him to become a chef and his answer isn’t as simple as a famous influence or an impressive meal.
What is his answer? Family.
It’s not just that Jimmy was inspired by his Puerto Rican grandma’s Arroz con Gandules that were always on her stovetop, although that’s part of it.
And it’s not just that he always looked forward to his Southern grandma’s crispy stuffing at Thanksgiving, although that’s a huge part of it, too.
It’s that he learned through these memories to show love to people by feeding them, and that’s why everyone always remembers their Jimmy meals.
For some people it’s his 24-Hour Bolognese.
For more than a few people, believe it or not, it’s his Brussels Sprout Tacos.
For some people it’s the fact that he can perfectly replicate a fine-dining steakhouse dinner in the comfort of a family home.
And what’s his mantra? “If you can dream it, I can do it.”
